Audience members admitted at a cost of £8. Performers, young people under the age of 18, teachers and accompanists will be admitted free.

Competitors are welcome to enter the Taunton Young Music Theatre Singer competition which will be held on the same day.

THE COMPETITIONS are open to any singer aged 14 to 18 on 1st September 2025, who is a resident or attending any school within a 50-mile radius of Taunton, of Grade 6 standard or above, or recommended by their singing teacher if no singing exams have been taken. Previous winners, if eligible, may enter but are limited to winning these competitions only twice.

It is possible to enter both competitions.

A PROGRAMME of contrasting songs, 10-12 minutes maximum should be prepared.

AWARDS: The winning performer will receive a cheque for £150. While the two runners up will receive £75 and £35 respectively

ENTRY FEE : £25 (Please note both TYS and TYMTS can be entered for a joint fee of £40)

ENTRIES: Applications should be made online at Taunton Festival of the Arts (music competitions) by 6th February 2026. Later entries may be accepted by arrangement with an additional Late Entry fee of £5.

ADJUDICATOR: Gaynor Keeble

OFFICIAL ACCOMPANIST: If needed an official accompanist will be available for an additional charge, to include a 15 minute rehearsal and the competition performance.
