THE COMPETITION

The competition is open to any singer age 14 – 18 on 1st September 2023 who is resident within a 50 mile radius of Taunton.  Grade 6 standard should have been attained or recommended by their singing teacher if no singing exams have been taken.  Previous winners, if eligible, may enter but are limited to winning this competition only  twice.

PROGRAMME

A programme of contrasting songs, 10-12 minutes maximum should be prepared.

2nd £75

3rd £35

The winning performer will also receive the Herbert Gouge Trophy.

ENTRY FEE

The entry fee of £20 should be paid through the Festival system of entry before acceptance.

a Programme of Performance, Biographical Details and a Photograph

ADJUDICATOR

The adjudicator will be Emma Brain–Gabbott

OFFICIAL ACCOMPANIST

An accompanist will be recommended if required, at an additional charge.

ON THE DAY

Audience members admitted at a cost of £8. Performers, young people under the age of 18, teachers and accompanists will be admitted free.

NB  In addition competitors are welcome to enter for Taunton Young Music Theatre Singer competition which will be held on the same day.

Taunton Festival of the Arts will hold entry and competition data only until the competition is completed after which it will be deleted from the Festival records.
